Recognition for our Diversity

by Trish Murray 16 Feb 2023 0 Comments

This year has only just begun, but we are already on our way to winning our first award of 2023, in the Federation of Small Business Awards for 2023, and have been shortlisted for the Diversity & Inclusion Award, alongside some other very worthy nominees. But why us, well here’s why.

Recognition for our Diversity- A Blog from Nice 'n' Naughty

Always Inclusive.

Nice ‘n Naughty has always been an inclusive company, from the people working with us, to the customers we serve. We recognise that your gender is personal to you, and not always linked to the sex you were born as. Within the team at Nice ‘n’ Naughty we look at the individual, and we treat each and every one with the same respect, regardless of gender, religion, or ability. Nice ‘n’ Naughty are a team of individuals, much like our customers.

We know your sexuality and your chosen gender are not necessarily the same, and we are always respectful of the individual’s pronoun and chosen gender and treat each and every person as the unique individual that they are.

We have always been the same, and that is probably why I have always been part of the family here. My pronouns are He/Him, but I am also Phil, Dolly, a gay man, a husband, a daddy, a bear, and a Princess! These are all names and pronouns I choose, and all are welcome in the world of Nice ‘n’ Naughty. We really are a melting pot of diversity here.

Why Were We Chosen?

Over the last 8 months, Nice ‘n’ Naughty’s Director, Trish Murray, has been working with the Cross-Dressing/Transvestite community, as many of the individuals within this community struggle with acceptance, or need support and guidance that they can’t find around them. With this in mind Be a Lady was born, and it is the brainchild of Trish.

The Be a Lady brand offers Make Up Application and Tuition, Dressing and Chaperone Services, as well as providing storage solutions for individuals who wish to keep their wardrobe separate, allowing them to live their authentic life without the need to keep buying new outfits every time they wish to dress, with postal and instore drop of/collection of outfits. Add to this Photoshoots and Finishing School, a new range of essential items for the Crossdressing and Trans Community, plus many other services, making Be A Lady the one stop destination for anyone who wishes to dress as they desire, knowing there is a safe space and welcoming people to help and advice on their day to day needs and requirements.

Who We Are Up Against.

In the Northwest region finals we are up against some incredible fellow small businesses, with Ability Consultancy (NW) Ltd, Essentialise Workplace Wellbeing, Happy Smiles Training CIC, Jardin Living Ltd and Sm@rt Technology Ltd; all incredibly worthy and diverse businesses. It is going to be a hard decision, but I know who I’m cheering on!

When and Where

The award for the North-west region is taking please in Manchester on the 3rd March, with the UK final taking place in Birmingham on the 18th May, so we will keep you informed!

So, until then, keep living your authentic life and keep being you.

Love Phil and everyone at Team Nice ‘n’ Naughty
